Abstract
NWSChat is an Internet-based communications application that allows NWS Weather Forecast Offices to directly interact with core partners in a chatroom type environment.  NWSChat, along with other similar earlier applications, has been utilized for more than 10 years by NWS forecasters to provide decision support information to core partners for incidents ranging from severe weather and winter weather episodes to non-weather events such as hazardous material (HAZMAT) incidents.  This presentation will examine a number of these incidents over the last decade, and provide a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the types and levels of decision support the have been provided through NWSChat.  These results should help the NWS and broader weather community gain more perspective on the decision support needs of core partners during weather and non-weather incidents.
